Time To Get Serious

Sat Oct 17, 2009, 9:43 PM
  • Mood: Exhilarated
  • Listening to: Sweat Pea by Amos Lee
  • Reading: Daniel X - James Patterson & Fountainhead - R
  • Watching: Legally Blond, V for Vendetta, The Proposal
  • Playing: no playing (I take my work very playfully enough)
  • Eating: cookies
  • Drinking: lots of water
Besides the fact that I just watched Legally Blonde (which reminded me of the musical version throughout the whole thing - I like the musical better), I really need to start getting immensely serious about my writing. I'm scheduling in an hour of writing, at least, for each day except for Fridays and one other day of my choice in the week. I write on Saturdays and Sundays, so I need my days off (those days where I'm uber busy with school work and unable to produce any amount of writing). I'll try to read more to teach myself a bit more of the kind of writing I want to do (maybe one serious book a month depending on the page count and one goofy fiction book every two to three weeks).

This sudden burst of work-hood is based on a lot of things, I guess. I'm very passionate about writing and I LOVE to come up with, develop, extend these beautiful ideas, but I'm not very...well I dream too much! Dreaming only gets me so far. I'm one of the oldest people in every one of my classes, yet I've accomplished little. Soon I'll be graduated and I'll go to college (decision on which one: pending) and I really need a scholarship. A super great one would be a talent scholarship for a lot of dough by publishing one of my stories. That would make things so brilliant! But I've been THINKING about things like that, not DOING much to achieve it. A week of lousy writing and a week of boredom is so not worth looking forward do.

I think a great passion has been stirred.

So, I watched V for Vendetta and that may have encouraged this 'Take action' attitude. I'm so stoked to read the novel version and comics (if I can get a hold on them soon at the library)! I don't know exactly why yet, but I'm so enthralled by the story.

I went to hear Ray Bradbury at a library and, although I had to stand, the microphone was seriously flawed, and the baby suckling it's mother was a bit distracting, I liked what he had to say. It was definately worth the standing for an hour. I'd known practically NOTHING about him when I got to the library (except we had just watched a movie based off of one of his short stories a few hours earlier) and was eager to rent out a library book of his when I left. My dad and I both felt a spark before arriving at the library to develop his story idea that he wants me to write. I've been doing some research today, thinking before I go to bed, plotting, planning, and tieing things in for this story to work, but I think it's one of the easiest stories for me to ever imagine. I'm pretty sure it'll be a kids story because it's about a very very young historical boy, but I'm putting in things that won't make is extremely boring for older peeps too :) My dad says he wants some romance in it, it has some room for COOL action, lots of fiction wiggling in with facts, and characters that I don't even have to name because they already have names! The best part is working with my dad on it ^_^ I run things by him, he bounced ideas back!

Life just got too boring and typical for me. Who else can change it but I, the magnificent puppeteer of my own life? I'm so glad God, my close friends, and my fantastic family is there to just be with me. ^_^
